DraCo Systems Announces Casablanca:
A New Concept in Video Editing
DraCo Systems announces Casablanca - a stand alone device for nonlinear
video editing with outstanding picture quality. Designed from the ground
up as an easy to operate digital video editor, Casablanca features simple
trackball operation using only a TV. A complete system has a suggested
retail
price of $3,995, and is as compact as your VCR.
Casablanca delivers the picture quality required for DV and MiniDV. It
can
also be used for Betacam SP, S-VHS, Hi8, or VHS equipment. Operating the
Casablanca is done using a trackball. There is no installation of
hardware
or software required - the system is delivered complete.
Casablanca edits video in a nonlinear manner, like a computer system.
But,
you don't need any computer experience to become quickly efficient with
Casablanca. The video and audio are saved to a removable hard drive.
Video
and audio are easily split into individual scenes. These scenes can be
trimmed
and then moved to the storyboard. Once scenes are in the storyboard, you
can define transitions from a growing list of effects and image
processing
options. Audio editing is accomplished with three stereo tracks.
Casablanca is not a computer. There is no word processor, no spreadsheet,
and no internet software. Only the relevant components for video editing
are employed in Casablanca. These components are top-quality and deliver
maximum performance. The video hardware of the Casablanca is similar to
the DraCo Vision, which is a professional system for broadcast
applications.
Casablanca is also perfect for digital-to-digital video editing. Any DV
or MiniDV device can be connected over the optional IEEE P 1394
(FireWire)
interface. With this capability your video editing remains digital and is
completely loss-free.
DraCo Systems provides affordable and powerful tools for a broad spectrum
of the digital video marketplace. DraCo Systems is a 12 year old
corporation
which markets the Casablanca and the DraCo Vision. DraCo Vision is a
professional
nonlinear system which sells through specialized distributors. The DraCo
Vision and Casablanca were developed in Germany by MacroSystem GmbH and
are manufactured by Siemens. DraCo Systems is located in Boulder,
Colorado,
and is a privately held corporation.
